Mom bought a preschool workbook. Melody became very involved in it before you can even say "Homework."
To teach Melody how to write her name better (like switching the way the 'd' was faced so it wasn't a 'b'), Mom wrote Melody's name several times in dotted lines so that she could trace it. When it was done, it looked something like this:
M M M M
e e e e
l l l l
o o o o
d d d d
y y y y
so she could practice each letter a good number of times. Then I did it with my own name:
HHHH
aaaa
nnnn
nnnn
aaaa
hhhh
She was a good 'student', that is, if I were a teacher. I put stars and tiny pictures with short compliments like 'Good job!" and "Wow!" to go with them. Even right now at this moment she is practicing numbers, colors, and words with mom. Maybe she'll enjoy homework up to high school.
